About Teresa Purkis
Teresa Purkis was born in 1956 in Bristol, England and has lived with her wife for over thirty-five years. Teresa spent her working career as a Teacher of Mathematics and Physical Education.
Her mum named her Teresa because she liked the name Terry. The only time her mum didn't call her Terry was when she was telling her off.
In her youth she was a footballer and hockey player, playing football to a high standard. Teresa has supported Bristol Rovers FC since 1966 and has seen the team through more down times than up.
Teresa is happily retired and, apart from writing, she spends her spare time playing lawn bowls, singing in her local women's community choir, doing Arts and Crafts, and playing a few computer games. She enjoys cruising and seeing as much of the world as possible. She doesn't know how she found time to go to work.
When she was working she spent her summer holidays taking up new challenges, some of which she still continues.
She started to write her first novel, Deliverance, during her summer holiday in 1988. This combined lesbian and science fiction tells the story of a group of pioneers who disappear from earth during the catastrophe and colonise the planet Sythia. However it took longer than the six weeks and when finished she hid it in a drawer for twenty five years before realising you could self publish.
Since retiring she took up writing as a hobby but it seems to have taken over all her spare time. Her ninth novel, And Love Will Find Its Way, is the fourth in The Perfect Blend series.
Teresa has also written a non-fiction book, My Bristol: The History and The Culture in which her interest in photography allowed her to showcase the city she loves.
On the following pages you'll discover what her books are all about, and what makes them unique. I hope you enjoy learning more about her work and the stories she loves to tell.

What makes her work unique?
Teresa's books stand out because they feature older women in leading roles.
The stories are aimed at readers who appreciate character-driven narratives over plot-heavy thrillers, and are likely to be interested in themes of resilience, female friendship, found family, and overcoming adversity.
Her writing style focuses on crafting realistic and engaging conversations that bring her characters to life. And through authentic dialogue, readers can truly connect with the emotions and experiences of her characters.
Who does she write for?
Teresa writes for more mature women, particularly those who are part of or allies of the LGBTQ+ community.
Her stories would resonate with readers who enjoy contemporary sapphic romance, specifically "later-in-life" slow burn romances that feature mature, complex characters who find love and connection. Their lives, loves, and how they navigate realistic challenges.
If you enjoy tales with strong female characters and heartwarming relationships, you're in the right place.
